Wetware Computer

kmxexii Sferro has a solid debut EP with a few experiments in reversing the sound that come at the end of "Auto" and "Wetware". I dig the former, with its powerful chords and descending 6/8 hook, and I could listen to "Wetware" forever; it's got a great atmosphere and melody. "Intelligent" brings some of the funk and a cool beat and a distorted synth lead. The dark atmosphere of "Low Life" is really cool; a shame it's over so quick. The Tommy remix of "Auto" makes it just as dreamy as the title track. Favorite track: Wetware Computer.

Loren Knack Perfect for an old educational film about dinosaurs. Pterodactyls scan the land below hunting for prey while Wetware Computer plays. Favorite track: Wetware Computer.

Girlfriend Records

Girlfriend Records was created by producer Sferro as an attempt to pay homage to the faded images and analog sounds of his childhood. Deeply rooted in the mystique of the 1980's, GFR's catalog sees electro, funk, disco, and house knocking knees with college rock, shoegaze, post-punk, new wave, and hip-hop to create musical hybrids that are comfortingly nostalgic, yet unmistakably modern. ... more
